Old Vine Shiraz
Sourced from ancient low-yielding vines and lovingly nurtured on our family estate, this wine is characterised by its intensely concentrated fruit and is a true expression of both the style and the Barossa.
Varietal: | Shiraz | ||||||
Vintage: | 2021 | ||||||
Region: | Barossa Valley, South Australia
Colour: | Dense plum red.
Nose: | Kirsch cherry liqueur, anise, coriander seed and fresh coffee grinds.
Palate: |
Layers of mulberry and sloe plum, with savory notes of toasted anise and bitter chocolate. A chewy and textural palate, with fine layers tannin adding precision, length and persistence. |
||||||
Style: |
A full-bodied Barossa Shiraz made from a small patch of old vines grown in the foothills of the Barossa ranges. The vines were planted in 1881, making them some of the oldest in the Barossa. A fine structured wine that will continue to give pleasure with medium to long term cellaring (5 to 10 years). Would pair well with a range of high-quality hard cheese, a good Cheddar, Gouda or maybe an aged Comte. Meat wise, try it with something like Beef Wellington, Filet Mignon, Wagyu or any of those more textural beef cuts. Pairing with a mushroom broth or creamy pasta would also work well. |
